Dr. Kathy Howell, PhD, LPC, CPCS
When Dr. Howell was thrust into the role of single mom and primary financial supporter for her four children, she returned to the work force for immediate financial security and to college for the long-term security. She started her own landscaping business, because it meant higher pay than most other "women jobs". As she debated about a career choice in college, she felt God's influence to become a counselor through the words of Isaiah. Dr Howell's education and life experiences have equipped her to understand many of the issues facing those in need. After completing a M.S. in counseling, she started her own practice in the Dawsonville area. Dr. Howell earned a PhD. in counseling in 1999, and has repeatedly taken postgraduate certification courses covering a variety of areas,e.g., Nutritional Response testing, women's issues, grief, addiction, stress management, anxiety disorder, anger management, divorce recovery, Theophostic (God's Light) Inner or Memory healing. Over the last twelve years in the counseling profession, Dr Howell's experiences have been extensive; she has had the opportunity to counsel individuals with a wide range of needs, and she has provided services for a number of local institutions/groups: Dawson County Juvenile Court, Probation Students, Prevent Child Abuse Dawson Board, Substance Abuse DUI Offenders, Dawson County Family connection, and Dawson County Meth Task Force. Dr Howell believes that for the maximum benefit, it is important to treat individual's mind~soul~body.
